Creating a Meeting

 

Google Meet allows you to create and manage your Video Meetings directly from your Google Calendar, their website https://meet.google.com/ , the Google Meet Progressive Web App, or via Canvas using Google Meet (LTI 1.3). 

Please note: Creating an instant meeting or a meeting for later does not allow you to preconfigure Meet settings before starting your meeting. 

 

Creating a meeting by using “Schedule in Google Calendar” option: 

To schedule a meeting in your Google Calendar from https://meet.google.com/ or the Google Meet Progressive Web App. 

 

Click the “New Meeting” icon

 

Select “Schedule in Google Calendar”

 

You will be redirected to a new event in Google Calendar with a Meet link already populated. Fill out the event information as needed

Create an Instant Meeting:

Creating an Instant Meeting will start a meeting and create and provide a popup with joining information to share. 

 

To create an Instant Meeting, go to https://meet.google.com/ or open the Google Meet Progressive Web App. 

 

Click the “New Meeting” icon

 

Select “Start an Instant Meeting”

You will join a meeting. Once joined, you will see a popup on the lower left with joining information to share. 

 

Create a Meeting for Later:

Google Meets website allows you to quickly generate a Meeting link to share with others. This feature does not create a meeting on your Google Calendar, rather creates an instant meeting link. 

 

To “Create a Meeting for Later”, go to https://meet.google.com/ or open  the Google Meet Progressive Web App. 

 

Click the “New Meeting” icon

 

From the menu that appears, select “Create a meeting for later”

 

 

Copy the joining information that pops up and send it to your guests. Make sure you also save the data, this does not create a meeting on your Google Calendar. It just generates a meeting link.
