Zoom Marketplace Apps

Zoom Marketplace Apps

Overview

Zoom Marketplace Apps are add-ons to Zoom's videoconferencing client, often provided by developers other than Zoom.

All Zoom Marketplace Apps will require some degree of access to your Zoom account.  If they serve to integrate Zoom and another service, they may require access to your account in the other service as well.

Some third-party Zoom Marketplace Apps require payment or a subscription to use.

App Types

There are two primary types of Zoom apps: those that are installed for the entire organization, and those that each individual user can choose to install for themselves.  There are no controls available to the individual user to manage the installation or uninstallation of the former.

Approved Apps

An individual Zoom Marketplace App is only available for installation in your Willamette-provided Zoom account after passing a WITS review process.

If an app is available for installation and use, its page will feature either an [Install] button or a [Visit Site to Install] button.  In the latter case, clicking the button will take you the website of the App's provider, where you'll be prompted to allow access to your Zoom account before installing their app.

If the app has not yet been approved for WU use, however, the button will be labeled [Request pre-approval].  Clicking the button will send a request to the WITS admin team to review the app and determine whether it should be made available to the Willamette community.

Interconnected Apps

Many Zoom apps will require access to your account with another service.  In such cases, once you've installed an approved app in your Zoom account, you'll be prompted to visit the other service and provide access to it as well.  For instance, the Google Calendar app for Zoom requires permission to access your Google calendar as well as your Zoom account.
