PaperCut Mobility Print FAQ

PaperCut Mobility Print FAQ

Overview

Willamette's web-based printing software changed WUprint to PaperCut Mobility Print in the summer of 2025.  PaperCut Mobility Print maps printers to a students personal device and allows users to print directly from any application.

Details

1. Why did we make this change?

Infrastructure improvements necessitated a change in our printing options. We used this opportunity to seek out an off the shelf solution that is easier to manage and offers more functionality to our users.

2. Is printing still free?

Yes, student printing is continues to be free, although we request that you help us keep it that way by not abusing the privilege. This service is also limited to draft-quality, black-and-white or grayscale printing only.

3. What’s the difference?

The core functionality is the same, you can print from your personal device. With that in mind, PaperCut Mobility print maps printers to your device and requires your Willamette username (excluding @willamette.edu) and password to send jobs to the printer.

4. Do I still have access to the same printer list?

Yes, the same printers that you saw in WUprint are available in PaperCut Mobility Print.

5. Does PaperCut Mobility Print work the same as WUprint?

PaperCut Mobility print is an installed / mapped printing experience. This allows you to print directly from an application or website without having to convert your work for upload.

Step 1: Send your print job to the correct printer queue (example: Ford Hall 1st Floor Lobby, Smullin Basement, etc.)

Step 2: Nothing appears to happen / I see the job in my print queue and is disappears.

This is normal.

If everything is working correctly your jobs have been sent to the printers queue and authenticated with your saved Willamette username and Password.

6. I use a macOS device and see the error “Hold for Authentication”?

Hold for Authentication means that your device does not have the correct username or password associated with printing.

Please either press the refresh icon with a padlock or go to your Keychain to update your username / password. Please read our guide walking through troubleshooting steps.
