Adobe Creative Cloud - Licensing and Installation

Adobe Creative Cloud - Licensing and Installation

Overview

Active Willamette University faculty, staff, and students have access to the entire suite of Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and many more.  There are two different kinds of licenses, however, and most users will need to access this software only via university-owned computers.  ALL Adobe software now requires users to sign in with their WU email address before use.

Two different Adobe software licenses

Named User Licenses

Willamette has a limited number of "Named User Licenses" which allow users to download and install the Adobe CC suite of applications on personal and university-assigned computers.
These licenses are assigned to individuals with special circumstances:
1) Faculty and staff who need access to special font packages
2) Faculty and staff with a clear need to install this software on a personally owned computer
3) PNCA-enrolled students (who pay a technology fee to support related expenses)

Individuals with this kind of license may log into adobe.com and download the Adobe CC application.  From this application, all of the other Adobe Suite software is available for download.

Shared Device Licenses

Shared Device Licenses (SDL) versions of the Adobe Creative Suite applications can be accessed by anyone with an active WU user account.
A few notes about the SDL version:
1) This version may only be installed by WITS staff and is included on most of our lab, office, and circulation computers
2) It can NOT be installed on personally owned computers
3) We have an unlimited number of allowed installations for this licensing model

Individuals using this licensing model on a computer lab or office workstation may or may not be able to install or update software depending on several variables. Contact WITS if you need additional applications and are unable to add them.

Common Questions

How do I get these Adobe applications?

Contact the WITS Help Desk at wits@willamette.edu to get the process started.

What if I have an old version of Adobe Acrobat that doesn't work anymore?

This is quite typical.  Older versions have expired and may demand a license code.  These old versions need to be entirely uninstalled and replaced with the latest software and licensing model.  Contact WITS at wits@willamette.edu and we can assist with getting the proper version installed.

Can I log into Adobe software on more than one computer?

Users can log into two Adobe software sessions concurrently but no more.  Signing into a third will prompt you to sign out of one of your other active sessions before proceeding.  This is the same for both Shared Device Licensing and Named User Licensing.
